About Newlife Newlife was founded in 1991 as the Birth Defects Foundation, by parents, doctors and business people dedicated to fighting what is now the biggest threat to child health. Originally we focussed on those children born with a condition. In August 2008 we changed our name and the remit of the charity to help all disabled and terminally ill children across the UK. In order to respond more fully to the needs of disabled children, Newlife launched a National Appeal in 2009 where all income is ‘restricted’ meaning that 100% of Appeal income is used at the Donors request in the county of their choice across the UK. Known for our commitment, integrity, passion, creativity and compassion, Newlife is the UK’s leading disabled children’s charity giving equipment for disabled children, caring for the parents, funding medical research, creating awareness and campaigning for change. Our services are led by professional Nurses and our record in funding research is excellent. We give equipment grants quickly and with the child’s needs uppermost in our minds. Our awareness raising and campaigns put children and their families first in people and decision maker’s minds. We keep costs low and we are one of the few charities who openly give donors the chance to ensure 100% of their donation or fundraising reaches what they want to fund, with no admin costs taken out. Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children is positive about disability and works to FRSB standards. Our vision is to ensure that disabled children and their families are fully supported, have the equipment they need, that children’s health is improved and decision makers understand and respond to their needs.
